Brain tumour?

Hello , I’m 15 years old a male and I have bad health anxiety so I’ve been having headaches daily for a month and 3 days now and they haven’t been waking me up and aren’t that bad when I wake up

however there, there in The morning till I go bed and sometimes get better when I’m distracted, recently I’ve also started to get eye pains in my left eye mainly (sometimes right) my headaches move on my forehead from left till right every few hours it started with the right side then a week or so in it started moving and obviously the eye ache on the left aswell which makes me worry, however yesterday I tried pushing on pressure points that’s meant to help headache they did sort of but it made my eye sting, go red and water a lot (is that bad) but yeah my anxiety has gotten unbearable it’s making me miss school, not eat, stay in bed all day and this is the worst ida ever been, I’ve been to the gp and they said everything was fine, but still my anxiety thinks everything’s wrong so I over exaggerated my symptoms a bit (headaches worsen + tingling in feet) so I have an appt with the pediatric neurologist on the 27th but I genuinely don’t think I can wait that long so please can you provide me with reassurance.

btw my worry is that I have glioblastoma (the only reason is that cause I had a clear mri last December so my thoughts go to “well I had a clear mri a few months ago so there’s no way it wouldn’t be a good tumour (benign) and it’ll have to be aggressive if I did end up having one) so I just need reassurance please as I keep telling my self that with pediatric glioblastoma it would worsen within a month especially in the frontal lobe (where I think mine it) thanks for reading!

  •  I don’t mean that a good tumour is benign I mean like one that I’ll survive

  • Hello Ethhay

I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling so much at the moment with health anxiety. It sounds like this has really impacted your daily life and it's understandable that you might be feeling overwhelmed by things.

It's good to hear that you've already seen your GP and that you have previously had some tests which didn't give any immediate cause for concern. Hopefully when you see the specialist in a few weeks' time, they will be able to give you some further reassurance.

We know that when people have health concerns, they often turn to the internet to try to find answers and reassurance. We also know that what happens most often is that they are left feeling even more worried and anxious about their symptoms and still with no definitive answers. If you are researching your symptoms online, then please stop Etthay as this won't help your situation.

The NHS website has advice and tips about managing health anxiety that you may find useful to help you whilst you're waiting for your appointment. It sounds like it would be a good idea to talk with your GP as well about your anxiety so that they can help you better manage this. If you have a trusted teacher or member of staff at school you can talk with then reach out to them as well. It may be that there are counselling services within the school that you can access to help you learn to manage your anxiety.

I hope that you can access the support you need Etthay to help improve things.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Ethhay,

A very warm welcome to the forum. I am sorry to hear about your symptoms and am glad to hear that you've already had them investigated and that nothing untoward has been found. At your age, it is sometimes difficult to get doctors to take your symptoms seriously, as it is unlikely to be cancer in someone so young. You are at the stage in life where you are probably doing more study at school and this could also be the cause of your eye and headache problems. Are you into gaming? This can also cause these problems. I am not a doctor, but from your description, this could also describe migraine. Have you been given anything to treat the headaches? If not, I would go back to see your GP again and ask if this might be a possibility.

If the treatment for migraine works, then you can possibly rule out anything more sinister. If not, then you can seek a second opinion. It is never easy when you suffer from health anxiety, but try to put your faith in your health care team, until you know better. I sincerely hope that there is a simpler solution. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
