Anxious - waiting for results and going for a womb biopsy on Tuesday. I don't know what to expect. Has anyone been through this?

Hi, I’m 54, I’m waiting for my results and going for a biopsy of the womb on Tuesday, I’m ill with worry, I thought I was going through menopause, periods stopped for just over 12 months but they have started again, made an appointment at the doctors and they have made it an emergency to be seen, now I’m thinking, have I got cancer, I am frightened and haven’t told my family, I don’t even know what to expect when I go for this biopsy, can I ask if anyone has or is going through the same. I don’t know who to talk too.

  • There is a good possibility you haven’t - percentages are very low so you may be absolutely fine. They may suggest a Mirena coil moving forward.

i was unlucky and i have cancer. Hopefully contained but I‘ll find out soon. I am 56.

i had the hysteroscopy first - it’s not too bad but I was very shaken with my result. Good Luck - it does help to share your news with family I think. But I’m a sharer - you need to do what’s right for you.

  • Had the biopsy and got the results back after 2 weeks, I had a polyp removed and it was benign and no abnormalities from my biopsy, I am so relieved. I feel very lucky and thankful. Reading everyone’s stories on here and it’s so devastating, my heart goes out to you all.

  • Lucky you! I had good news yesterday too - my hysterectomy and ovary removal has removed all the cancer. Obviously I have follow ups for the next few years.
Had a curved ball - they were worried I might have a blood clot so did a CT scan - then found a lump on my breast! Investigations showed that is fine and not a worry - I was seriously worried!
