CLL for me

Mick here I'm 54 and I got diagnosed with CLL earlier this year.

I wasn't shocked when I found out as I had all the side effects for many years.

Most people in my life were more upset then I was and I reassured them it's not the worst cancer to get.

The main thing to tell yourself is that what you have is treatable where as many other types are not.

I chose the oral chemo drug called Brukinsa and I am 4 days into my treatment and so far so good, also taking Aciclovir and Co-Trimoxazole to help counter the side effects.

If anyone needs a chat just hit me up.

  • Hi MickBulb,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. It's good to hear that treatment is going OK so far and that you're approaching things well. I'm sure your post will be helpful to others looking at the forum who may be going through something similar.

Hopefully the forum can also be of some support to you, in terms of writing things down and reaching out to others. We're always here whenever you need it.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • Hi. i found out the week that I have CLL. My GP doesn’t seem that worried but I am. Referred myself for further tests with a specialist on December 23rd. Then take it from there. My cell count has been elevated for over a year but my new GP said let’s have further tests. Since July I have had recurrent mouth ulcers that just do go away…

what where your counts? Looking back via my NHS App they have been elevated for over a year.
