I’m new to this site but not to cancer. Diagnosed with IDC in left breast November 24

Hello I’m new to this site but not to cancer. Diagnosed with IDC in left breast November 24, lumpectomy with sentinel lymph node biopsy and lift and reduction on right breast 23/12/24 ( not a Xmas to remember!)

Re-excision on 13/1/25 to get a clearer margin and was  told cancer in one lymph node. Onca test 35 so chemo recommended, port fitted in early February and started chemo 19th 4x EC and 4x Paclitaxe finished 6th June. 15 rounds radiotherapy which I finished 6th August and I’m now on Letrozole 5 years, ibandronic acid, accrete D3 3 years and starting Abemaciclib in October for 2 years. Had a f scares along the way as if cancer wasn’t scary enough, a  reaction to Paclitaxel and 2 other lumps in right breast. These turned out to be a cyst and some scar tissue  looking forward to reading about your journeys.

  • Hello Csf68,

A warm welcome to Cancer Chat and I hope that you will find the support you need on our forum. Thank you for sharing your story and your journey living with invasive ductal carcinoma. You certainly have been through a lot treatment wise with all the chemotherapy sessions and 15 rounds of radiotherapy and all these drugs you will be on for years. I hope that the treatment has been effective even though you had a reaction to Paclitaxel. It must have been really scary for you to find two other lumps in your right breast and what a relief that these turned out to be just a cyst and some scar tissue.

I just wanted you to know that you are not alone and I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have received a similar diagnosis whether in the past or who are currently still living with IDC. I had a little look around the forum for you and I have found for example  's thread on being recently diagnosed with High Grade DCIS and IDC HER2+ and  has also posted this thread 3 months ago on being diagnosed with IDC and  commented on that thread mentioning they were diagnosed with IDC in 2024. These are just a few examples and you are welcome to drop them a line if you would like to engage with their thread. I hope that you will soon be chatting on here to other ladies who have been diagnosed with IDC so that you can share treatment journeys and experiences.

    Best wishes,
