Hysteroscopy had to be stopped as I felt faint and nauseous. Pre-op showed my blood pressure was high. Worried this will effect my re-scheduled appointment

Hi

I have had a transvaginal ultrasound, biopsy which was non diagnostic and a hysteroscopy which showed a polyp. I'm post menopausal and I had to stop the hysteroscopy because it made me faint and nauseous so I'm now on a waiting list for a general anaesthetic to get another biopsy. Unfortunately at my preop my blood pressure was very high so I have been given a blood pressure gauge to use daily.I have never had high blood pressure in the past and now it is constantly high or elevated. I've been walking all month as part of the 30 miles in September Challenge and have another preop at the surgery this week. I'm desperate to get this biopsy done. It feels like so long since I saw my Dr in March and the wait for appointments seems to take so long. I'm now worried that they won't be able to erate if my blood pressure is high.

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, Arty15.

I’m sorry to hear the hysteroscopy made you feel faint and unwell. That kind of reaction can be quite frightening, and it’s no wonder you’re feeling a bit on edge about what comes next. It’s good that they’re planning to do the biopsy under general anaesthetic now, but I can imagine the delays are making everything feel even more stressful.

It’s reassuring to hear you’ve been given a blood pressure monitor and that you’ve been so active with the walking challenge. It shows how much you’re doing to try to look after yourself, even when things feel uncertain.

I hope your next pre-op appointment goes smoothly and that they’re able to go ahead with the biopsy soon. You’ve been so patient already, and I really do hope you get some clarity and peace of mind very soon.

Please let us know how you get on if you feel up to it. We’ll be thinking of you.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Renata, thank you so much for your reply and for the reassurance. I had an appointment with the nurse today and she was quite positive, I have an appointment with the Dr on Monday and then fingers crossed that he is happy and things can go ahead.  Walking every day has made a big difference and I've lost a bit of weight which is good. I'm hoping to get more sponsorship for CRUK by the end of the challenge. Many thanks again Marianne
