Hi everyone, well where do I start! ? I was diagnosed with prostrate cancer and opted to have my prostrate removed in 2018 but although expected to eliminate my cancer, unfortunately it had spread to my spine and have lived with metastatic prostrate cancer since then. With the aid of the Zoladex injections every 12 weeks, this has controlled my testosterone perfectly to date. Great hospital and caring team that are very professional and can’t fault them. However, last year, around September after a routine scan, a tumour was discovered on one of my lungs! No symptoms but there it was. I was speedily treated and the tumour was removed at a marvellous top hospital in London . Great treatment and very professional and can’t fault my treatment there. Unfortunately, that’s where it goes downhill! After being discharged and referred to my local hospital, associated with the hospital that operated. I was told I would have a CT scan every six months for two years to monitor the situation. Well, after my discharge, my first appointment with the doctor at the hospital was 8 months after my operation. I was told I would have scan now. In fact my CT scan was another 4 months after the doctors appointment! So now, all but a few weeks my first scan was 1 year. I tried after my family showed concern to highlight this with the lung unit nurses. Never heard a thing so now my first scan in September was scheduled for a different hospital at 11:30. That morning I had a phone call from the CT department, 9:30 so two hours before my long awaited scan telling me I couldn’t have the scan as the scan was with trace and I needed blood test prior to the scan! I was devastated. After complaining to my doctor she told me no trace was necessary and she never asked for anything other than normal CT scan. So,, bottom line is, a total mismanagement scenario, lack of care ( none really for a year!) and god forbid all cancer patients have the same indifference. I have not mentioned the hospitals as I now have taken steps to try and remedy their total negligence. Well, long winded I’m afraid but thought I’d share!! Many thanks The difference between hospitals is so massive sometimes and I believe dictates progress in care and treatment!
