My journey with the rare childhood cancer Hepatoblastoma

Hello Im Sarah and i had childhood cancer at the age of two.

I was Diagnosed with Hepatoblastoma when my parents noticed a massive bump on my stomach and took me to the local GP and he said for them to send me to the hospital right away and that's where i was diagnosed. I had 11 rounds of chemotherapy and in the progress had family and friends check up and my parents had styed in the ronald mcdonald house. In the rounds of chemo and hair loss i had gotten slight hearing loss. Thankfully i got the tumour removed off my liver and out my lungs and my gallbladder, my mum had said she's never seen my dad move so fast when the buzzer went off signalling the surgery had finished.  I had finally finished all the surgerys and chemo and returned to school. It was every where saying that i had beaten a rare cancer, so when ever my name is searched lots of articles will come up.

Over the years ive had multiple check ups with both my parents until the divorced., now they will  go together with me or separately with me. A few years ago i got diagnosed with dyspaxia (DCD) due to being premature. My aunt had notice the way i speak so she suggested it to my mum. Now Im 15, loves motorbikes,f1 ,moto gp ,nfl , football, tv and film ,Billie Eilish and lots more. im now hoping to be a motoGP rider im saving up for a mini motor to start heading to motoGP. Im also doing a shine cancer walk near me in october.

Thank you everyone

  • Hey Sarah_F1,

I just wanted to stop by to welcome you to the Cancer Chat forum as I noticed you haven't had a reply just yet.

It sounds like you and your family went through so much when you were younger. It must have been very difficult, especially with your cancer being so rare, but I'm so glad your treatment was successful and you are now thriving in your teens.

I'm sure some of our members will stop by soon for a chat but in the meantime, I hope you have a wonderful time doing the shine walk and that you won't have to wait too long to get your mini motor. We look forward to seeing you zooming around those MotoGP tracks in the future.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
