Hey everyone - just been diagnosed with stage 3b bowel cancer

Hi everyone,

My name is Scott and I 46 years old from a  little village up in the Northwest of England.  I am married with 2 beautiful young children aged 1 and 3 (a boy and a girl).

I have recently been diagnosed with Stage 3b Bowel cancer, they did give it a long complicated name, but i cannot remember for the life of me what it was.

I had surgery a couple of weeks ago to remove the portion of bowel that was affected and some of the lymph nodes around the area, I have also had an ileostomy fitted as there was not enough bowel left to make a new join due to previous surgeries I have had for Crohns disease.

I hope everyone is doing ok and will welcome me into these forums.

Peace and Love

Scott.

  • Welcome to our forum, Scott, and thank you for introducing yourself.
I’m sorry to hear about your diagnosis. It’s a lot to face, especially at 46 with two little ones at home.
It sounds like you’ve already been through quite a bit with your Crohn’s, and now dealing with surgery and an ileostomy on top of everything else must feel overwhelming at times.
It’s good to hear that the surgery is behind you and that they were able to remove the affected section of bowel and nearby lymph nodes. Hopefully you're getting the time and space to recover a little, though I know with young children, rest isn’t always easy to come by.
You’re very welcome here, and I hope you’ll find this to be a supportive place where others can share their experiences and help you feel a little less alone in all of this.
