  • Hi Catherine and a warm welcome to our forum,

Thank you for coming here and sharing your story. I am so sorry to hear you were diagnosed with kidney cancer and that you have found out that the cancer has come back from where the kidney was. It's all a bit of a waiting game for you now and it's completely understandable that this is affecting your mental health and making you stressed and anxious or having an impact on your ability to work. I know it's really hard but try and take one day at a time while you are waiting to have this important scan and keep busy and distracted if you can - have a look at our helpful tips on how to cope while waiting for important news.

There is also an in-depth section on our website on mental health and cancer including information on where to get support for mental health. Talk to your GP about how you have been feeling and I am sure that they will be happy to help and that they will be able to point in the right direction in terms of support available to you.

You are not alone and I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have been in a similar place before and had a cancer returning and this affecting their mental health. Feel free to get in touch with our cancer nurses on this free number 0808 800 4040 if you would like to talk things through with them at any point - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.
