Worried about breast lump - I can't sleep

I’ve found small round hard lump in my breast and I’m beside myself with worry, I can’t sleep.

  • Hi Westhallwimp.

A very warm welcome to our forum.

I am sorry to hear that you've found a lump. Have you contacted your GP about this? It is always worth doing this as soon as possible, because if it does turn out to be cancer, the sooner it is attended to, the better the outcome should be. Your GP will usually refer you to the breast clinic where they will carry out some tests to determine whether or not there is any cancer present.  Not all lumps are cancerous. In fact only 20% of those who attend the breast clinic get a cancer diagnosis. Some people end up with benign cysts or fibroadenoma. Here's hoping that nothing untoward is found, but I'm sure that you'll feel better for investigating your symptoms.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thanks for reply, yes been to go now on 2 week referral and hoping for the best .

  • Hi Westhallwalllop,

Well done!  Many of us find that it's the unknown that is so hard to deal with. Regardless of the outcome, you will feel better once you know the outcome. Just a heads up before you attend the breast clinic, we often have to wait up to 2 weeks after our first appointment before we get the results of any tests.

I hope that nothing untoward is found.

Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

  • Thank you. I did have a large metal gate hit me in the same place a couple of weeks back so I’m praying it’s that which has caused the lump.

  • Hi Westhallwimp,

Let's hope that this is all due to the gate, but you're just as well to make sure.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you!
