Speaking with myself

Dear me,

I know that you are working to tolerate this sudden diagnosis..

Clear cell ovarian cancer

Heavy, yes I agree with you

Escaping from it, you tell yourself that you are worried about its impact on your family and close friends

You won’t trick me with that

Tell me about its impact on you?

Are you that worried?

4 days and you will undergo what they call debulking surgery

They will take off your remaining ovary, cervix, omentum, surrounding lymph nodes.. etc

Just to make sure that other tissues of your body won’t catch the cancer

What else, adjuvant treatment

Chemotherapy cycles to kill any other criminal cells hiding, if they exist..

Take it easy

Who enjoys menstrual cycles anyways?

Looking at you, my dear me, you had it with endometriosis

Much harder that those who did know about it

Let the ovaries go, you do not want them

Worried about early/ surgical menopause?

Mental issues

Osteoporosis

Hot flashes

Depression..

You will overcome them, no matter how slow this goes

Oh, I forgot about the surgery rehabilitation

You can overcome it

Then comes the chemotherapy

Few cycles, your treating team will decide how many and what types of drugs they will give you

More side effects

I won’t name them here

You don’t know exactly how much you will suffer

Take it easy

All will fade, nothing lasts forever

See you later

  • Hi Placebo,

Wow what an original post written in the form of a poem addressing yourself. I found it so beautifully written and I was very moved to read it though I am really sorry to hear about your clear cell ovarian cancer diagnosis. We have another member here who writes similar poetry here on the forum   and I am sure she will very much like reading what you wrote.

Wishing you the very best of luck for the debulking surgery in just a few days and the treatment and if at any point you want to talk to our cancer nurses or ask them any question, you can call them on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their helpline is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

    Best wishes,
