Mutated lung cancer

Hi all, just been diagnosed with mutation lung cancer,  egfr. To be honest, feeling numb, disbelief, overwhelmed as it was diagnosed through having a bad back, not connected. And after a roller coaster of tests here there and everywhere need to chat to people who ve been through similar.  Will be having 4 rounds of infusion chemo alongside daily tablets. All feels a bit surreal at the mo, I guess until I start treatment. Also confused as I feel really well at the mo. Am I normal or just in denial?

  • Welcome to the Cancer Chat community Sami.t although I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis.

This must have been very difficult news to receive, especially with it being found through an unconnected injury, but our members are here for you Sami.t and hopefully it won't be long until some of them stop by to share their stories and advice.

Everything you've feeling and thinking is completely normal after receiving a cancer diagnosis, so rest assured that you are not in denial. You can find out more about how cancer can make you feel on our website but if it would help to have a chat with one of our cancer nurses about everything that has happened, then don't hesitate to give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to answer your questions and support you at this time.

We're sending you all our support Sami.t and wishing you all the best with your lung cancer treatment when it begins.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
