Suspected colon cancer - malignant looking tumour found during colonoscopy. Currently waiting for CT results. Nothing yet and I'm very worried.

Hi all,

I had my colonoscopy done on 21st August when they found a malignant looking 3.5 cm tumour in sigmoid colon. Endoscopist was sure it's cancer. I had my CT done on 26th August. No results yet and I am very worried.

I recently started having stabbing pain in the pelvis, near ovaries, deep down in uterus and rectal area, around tailbone and back. I went to A&E on 29th August, they ran some blood test, urine test - everything came back good or negative. I am still having this on and off pain and panicking that cancer has spread so much causing this feeling. No, it's not stress and it's not imagined, it's quite scary actually.

I called the specialist nurse today and left a message asking if they can give me update, just waiting for they reply.

  • Welcome to the forum Mesi, although I'm sorry to hear about the possible malignant tumour that's been found and the anxious wait you now have for your CT results.

Our members know just how scary and stressful it can be waiting for results so hopefully some of them will stop by soon to offer you their support and advice.

In the meantime, I hope some of these tips we have on how to cope with waiting for news will help calm your mind until you know more.

We also have a team of very understanding and supportive cancer nurses you can talk to about this on 0808 800 4040. They're available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and with their knowledge and insight they will do all they can to answer your questions and support you whilst you wait.

I do hope the specialist nurse has got back to you and given you an update since you made this post Mesi but if not, just remember that we're here for you and sending all our support your way.

    Kind regards,

  • Thank you Steph.

Colon cancer was just confirmed today, surgery is scheduled at the end of the month.

  • I'm so sorry to hear that Mesi.

I hope you're managing o.k since finding out, but do give one of our cancer nurses a call tomorrow if you want to talk any of this through.

Hopefully some of our colon cancer members will reach out to you soon but in the meantime, you can find out more about surgery for colon cancer on our website.

    Kind regards,
