Post menopausal bleeding

Hello , I am 49 years old and have been through an early menopause which I didn’t know was happening until last year when I had blood tests showing I am post menopausal! I went on HRT for couple of months and started bleeding then stopped hrt and my mini pill last year. I then had more bleeding and lots of tests that showed everything was ok , I’ve now got more bleeding and a lot of pain and was wondering if anyone else had this happen ??!! X

  • Hello and welcome to the forum, Pookie76.

Thank you for sharing what you're going through. It sounds like it’s been an unsettling time, especially with the unexpected bleeding and pain after already navigating early menopause and stopping HRT and the mini pill. It’s understandable to be feeling concerned, especially when things had seemed to settle and you’d had reassuring tests in the past.

I hope some of our members who’ve experienced similar symptoms will spot your post and share their experiences - you're certainly not alone in facing these kinds of worries, and this is a very supportive space to talk things through.

If it would help to speak with someone about what you’re experiencing, our nurses are here for you on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. They can offer information and reassurance while you wait to see your doctor or for any further tests.

  • Hi Pookie,

I also had heavy bleeding during peri- menopause and had 3 blood transfusions as an in -patient as I became severely anaemic and was fainting.  Like me you may have fibroids which will aggravate your menopause. I had several months of injections to try and shrink the fibroids.  I also had several biopsy's before the hospital found I had tumors behind the fibroids. I really hope this is not the case for you but so little is known about Leiomyosarcoma and it seems its hard for it be detected. Therefore, its important that women are aware of this as well as Fibroids in general.   I had a hysterectomy which has greatly relieved me of these symptoms   but I am now dealing with secondaries. I hope you get things sorted out, all the best.
