Lumpectomy, lymph node removal and breast lift surgery

Hello, I had a lumpectomy on my left breast and 2 lymph nodes removed from my left armpit and a breast lift done at the same time ( I can't remember the medical term they used for it but it was basically to make sure both breasts looked the same afterwards ) I had my surgery on Monday 18th and I've been feeling alright up until Thursday night when I started feeling really unwell. I was either freezing cold and shivering or boiling hot and extremely sweaty with achy bones, a headache that won't go away, nausea and not feeling hungry or thirsty then being sick after every time I eat. I've managed to keep water down by just having little sips, I feel dizzy and weak and I just keep sleeping a lot. I assumed I would be unwell after the surgery but I thought it would be right after and not almost 2 weeks after. I've gone from being basically back to normal to being in more pain now than I was right after the surgery. Has anyone else experienced this or is this something I should call up about? It's my first surgery so I don't know what's normal.

  • Hello Hayy333,

Poor you - I think you definitely need to talk to someone about this. Have they given you a number you can ring post surgery in case you experienced complications? You should definitely not be in so much pain or be feeling so unwell so I would definitely give them a call and mention all this. As it's the weekend and it might be difficult to get hold of your GP or surgery, don't hesitate to ring 111 and tell them about all your symptoms in detail and also mention the fact you had surgery a couple of weeks ago. They will be able to advise you further and tell you what could be causing these issues. It's good that you are managing to keep water down by having little sips but if you feel things get worse and you are not able to keep water down, are feeling more dizzy and weak, don't hesitate to ring 999 so you can get urgent medical attention.

I hope that you feel better very soon and that you manage to speak to a medical expert about how you have been feeling since Thursday.

    Best wishes,
