Has anyone been diagnosed whilst overseas with the British Forces and returned to the UK for treatment? I've just been diagnosed with DCIS

Hi,  I am living overseas due to my husband's posting with the British Armed Forces. I have been diagnosed with DCIS following my 'congrats you're 50' mammogram & ultrasound (done together here as routine), followed by a biopsy.  I'm travelling back to the UK next week for an appointment which most probably be to discuss my surgery options but that is all I know.  Is there anyone who has been diagnosed whilst overseas with the forces and returned for  treatment?

  • Hi MrsSunshine and welcome to our online community.

I'm sorry to hear you've been diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), but I hope your appointment to discuss surgery options next week goes well.

Hopefully some of our members who have had DCIS or been in a similar position to yourself will be along soon to offer their support and advice but if you'd like to have a chat about any of this with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to answer your questions and put your mind at ease about what's to come.

If you feel up to it, do keep us updated on your progress. We'll always be here for you MrsSunshine and we'll be sending you all our support as you move forward on this journey.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
