Mrs Jimmy: I have bowel/colon cancer

I am 84 years old, live on my own and have either bowel or colon cancer.

I am unsure that I will cope with a full investigation. but my family would want me to .

Up until a few days ago I was eating normally but now am taking care to have my meals very soft and have reduced the fibre content.

however, the discomfort at night is horrendous.  Would love some advice on food and fibre please.

  • Hi Mrs Jimmy,

I am sorry to hear, I recently had my stomach removed due to cancer, I’m Tom and I’m 34. I live with my 14 year old son and partner.

The fibre side I cannot comment, however I have lots of experience with the soft and wet food.

Good foods: Stew, Soup, Lasagne, cottage pie, mash potato, over cooked pasta, deli meats, full fat yoghurts and creams, cheese, ice cream, smoothies. Are all good tasty foods.

I try to avoid food that takes a long time to chew or digest or that have high acidity.

    Wish you all the best,

    Tom
