All about my son: son has relapsed for the third time with ependymoma

New to this.
So my 16 year old son has relapsed for the third time with an Ependymoma, brain cancer.

It’s operable but the treatments are running dry as he has already had two lots of radiation. Proton beam and cranial and spinal therapy.

Hes having stereotactic radiotherapy next to see if that helps but time is running out.
I’m Dad & I’m petrified of losing him.

i know of nobody who is going through what’s happening to us so I have nobody to actually speak to.

reaching out I guess.

  • Hello DadAmoma,

A warm welcome to Cancer Chat. I am sorry to hear your son has relapsed for the third time with ependymoma. As a parent, you must be so worried as he has had several treatments already and I keep everything crossed that the stereotactic radiotherapy is successful and that it works well for him.

You have done the right thing by coming here and reaching out and I hope that you will meet others here who have been diagnosed with this type of brain cancer or who also have a loved one who has had an ependymoma. We also have a nurse helpline if you ever need to talk things through - you can call our nurses on this free number 0808 800 4040 Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.

I hope that you'll be able to connect with others here who have experience with this diagnosis and treatment.

Best of luck to your son with the stereotactic radiotherapy treatment,

    Lucie, Cancer Chat Moderator
