Diagnosed with Stage 1 womb cancer - feeling number. Will be having a full hysterectomy next week - has anyone else been through this?

Hi everyone

I was diagnosed with stage 1 womb cancer yesterday and to be honest just feel numb. I am  having a full hysterectomy next week and would be interested to know other peoples experiences of going through this ?

The consultant said I might need radiotherapy but not sure at the moment and they have caught it early. Not sure why I can’t cry and feel numb.

  • Hi Sharontrace,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sure this is a lot to take in and it may take some time to process, and it's possible your emotions may fluctuate. It sounds like you don't have long to wait for the start of treatment, which is good.

I hope that this forum can be helpful for you in terms of hearing from others, particularly those who may have been through similar. Hopefully you'll get more replies from others here soon.

You can also use the search bar at the top of the page to find other relevant discussions and people to connect with, if you'd like to.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • Hi Sharontrace, I was diagnosed last year with stage 1b womb cancer...  Like you I was told it was caught early and thankfully I needed no further treatment other than the hysterectomy... Of course if further treatment needed I would have taken it.. I know it's a really scary time but trust in the system and the fantastic experience of your medical team.. It's been a year on and I feel really well and everything is back to normal... Probably took about 7 weeks in total to recover from the op - and the op was via a robot, so wasn't fully opened - only 5 small scars... I also never cried, I was just determined to fight it with everything I had.....  Try to stay strong....
