Immunotherapy treatment update

Hi

Just an update and looking to see of anyone else has had same treatment. My husband diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer and has completed chemoradiation with minor side effects thankfully. He has just had his 1st immunotherapy which is set to continue for 12 months. Anyone experienced immunotherapy and want to share their experience

Thanks all

  • Hello JoHo

It's good to hear that your husband completed chemoradiation with minor side effects. I'm sure that was a relief for you both. How has he tolerated his first immunotherapy treatment?

We have some information about immunotherapy for lung cancer on our website that may be of interest to you. If you know what specific drug he is being given, then you might be able to connect with others here in the Cancer Chat community by searching for that drug name using the function at the top of the page.

If it would help to talk with one of our nurses at any point you're welcome to give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can.

I hope that things go smoothly for your husband. Keep in touch JoHo and let us know how you're both doing.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi JoHo, I have stage 4 advanced lung cancer and also had chemo and radiotherapy. I also started immunotherapy but this had to stopped as it made so very ill. I was hospitalised a few times for up to 3 weeks each time and contracted sepsis and hepatitis. I don't know what the future holds for me as my oncologist has said that he doesn't think more chemo will benefit me but I have scans in a few weeks so will then know for sure what's happening. I hope that your husband is doing ok and please pass on my warmest wishes to him. I'm always available if you ever feel like a chat. Much love and light to you both. X

    1. Hi, I have had immunotherapy for lung cancer and was fine with it.  No side effects at all. Unfortunately it didn't work for me but I had pembrolizumab which seemed to be fine. Good luck with your treatment.
