Waiting for surgery

I found a lump in my right breast Nov 24. Diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer on 2nd January. 8 weeks of chemotherapy and immunotherapy has caused liver and thyroid function poblems. Had sepsis, caught Covid in hospital then anotger viral infection. Second round of 12 weeks of immunotherapy and chemo should have started yesterday but too many toxins in body already. Now waiting for full mastectomy in the next few weeks then probably back on chemo unit. Going to be a long haul still. Now getting very tired. Steroids won't give me more than 4 hours sleep a night. Still trying to be positive but getting harder by the day

  • Hi Csthy, sorry to hear you are going through it. I too found a lump in my right breast back in Nov 24. I finished 6 rounds of chemo and immunotherapy at the end of April for primary breast cancer. Just about to start radiotherapy in Aug plus continue with a weaker dose of the immunotherapy injections until the end of this year.

I too had a real trouble sleeping - eventually my team put me on Zopiclone (sleeping tablets) and it really really helped. For me it was the steroids that caused the insomnia. Perhaps worth asking them for something to help you sleep so your body can recharge itself over night.

It sounds like you have had it far worse than me (and I thought my treatment was bad!) so i really feel for you and send you lots of positive thoughts x
