AML

March 2024 something was wrong after some test and a biopsy i was diagnosed with AML blood cancer.

It's a very strange feeling when you are sitting in a little room being told this on a Thursday morning then before you can take it all in you are in hospital Monday morning being prepared for chemotherapy treatment. Spending the best part of 5 months in hospital changes your life completely. With CT scans x-ray and side effect.

After treatment I was 6 months I. Remission and after more rest it has returned. Now looking at Stem cells transplan. Something else to think about over tge next couple of months.

Mentally I am very strong I would say its more the physical side that has hit me harder.

  • Hello Ham69

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently been told that the AML has returned and that you're now facing the prospect of a stem cell transplant. It sounds like it's been a difficult time for you over the past year and it's understandable that you're struggling with some side effects of the treatment that you've already been through.

We have some information our website about living with AML which you might find helpful to have a read through. If you feel you'd like to talk with one of our nurses at any point then you're welcome to give them a call. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Hopefully the specialists will give you the support and information you need over the next few months so that you feel pressured ahead of your transplant. Keep in touch Ham69 and let us know how you get on.

    Sending my best wishes,
