Hi All - diagnosed with stage 3 skin cancer a year ago. Had surgery, and now I'm on immunotherapy. Currently NED

  • Hi all, my name is Neil and I'm 62 years young Almost 12 months ago I was diagnosed with Stage 3 skin cancer that had spread to my left armpit lymph nodes.

August last year I had full Axillia Dissection on my armpit and a 500g tumour was removed , since then I have been on Immunotherapy (pembrolizumab) and have had 6 out of 9 infusions so far and to date I am NED  .

  • Love to chat as it's "good to talk"
  • Also thinking about changing careers to give something back but don't know where to look and who wants to employ a 62yr old Cancer patient lol lol
  • Hi Neil and welcome to the Cancer Chat community.

I'm sorry you were diagnosed with stage 3 skin cancer last year but it's great to hear how successful your treatment has been and you're currently NED.

Now that I've replied to your post our members will have a chance to see your post again and hopefully some of them will stop by soon for a chat.

In the meantime, if you have any other questions or concerns about your treatment or would just like to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to support you.

I know you said you were thinking about changing careers so I just thought I would share this information I've found about finding a new job during or after cancer treatment with you as well. I hope you find it useful, but for further information and advice it may be worth getting in touch with Macmillan directly.

We're glad to have you with us Neil and are wishing you all the best with your 3 remaining infusions.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
