Prostate: surgery or radiotherapy

Hi, Been diagnosed with prostate cancer at age 67. Has anyone got advice on the two options of treatment I've been given? I've been offered surgery or radiotherapy. If I choose radiotherapy and relapse then surgery is not an option. There are side effects on both options. Is there anyone who has been in this situation? Thanks in advice

  • Welcome to the Cancer Chat community Brunoben although I'm sorry to hear you've been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

You can find out more about having surgery for prostate cancer or radiotherapy on our website but hopefully some of our members will be here soon to share their experiences and advice.

If it would help to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very insightful and will do all they can to answer your questions and support you whilst you figure out which treatment to go with.

I know this must be a very tricky decision to make Brunoben but whatever you decide, we're with you, and will be here to support you on the next stage of this journey.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
