Scalp Melanoma

I feel I am fortunate as I was referred direct to the Dermatology Clinic bu the receptionist at my GP surgery, who then passed me on to the dermatologist at my local hospital. Last week I received a phone call offering me an appointment today (Sunday), which I have just attended. The specialist's receptionist has given me an appointment for the suspected melanoma to be treated on 15th July, less than one month since I contacted my GP's surgery. I asked and thanked the specialist for seeing me so soon, and he replied it is because they have a backlog!

Looking at other comments it seems other areas are not attending to their backlogs?

  • Hi NannaSusan and welcome to Cancer Chat.

I'm glad to hear you have had a good experience so far and haven't had to wait too long for your appointments.

As you've discovered, a lot of our members have had rather different experiences and hopefully some of them will stop by soon to tell you more about their journeys.

In the meantime, if you have any further questions or concerns about your own journey that you'd like to discuss with one of our cancer nurses, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They're very knowledgeable and will do all they can to help.

Do let us know how you get on on the 15th NannaSusan. We'll be thinking of you and hope all goes well on the day.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
