Secondary cancer

My wife has just been diagnosed with secondary liver cancer after what seemed like a successful 2 years period of recovery from bowel cancer. A real shock. She will enter a period of chemo treatment aimed at controlling not curing the cancer. We are anxious to know what a typical chemo program will look like in these circumstances?

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, GH65.

I’m sorry to hear about your wife’s news - it must come as a real shock after two years of recovery. It’s understandable that you’re anxious about what happens next.

As every case is unique, her oncology team will likely tailor a plan based on factors like her overall health, genetics of the tumour, and how quickly the cancer progressed.

Hopefully others who are going through a similar situation will come along shortly to offer insight and support.

You’re both coping with a lot, and it's normal to have many questions. It might help to talk things through with someone with a medical background, for that our team of nurses is available on this freephone 08088004040, Monday through Friday, from 9am to 5pm.

Remember, GH65, we’re always here whenever you need a chat.

All the best to you both,

    Renata, Cancer Chat Moderator
