I am sorry to hear that you lost your nan to breast cancer and that your mum has found a lump. She has done the right thing by getting this investigated. I know just how scary this situation is. I lost my mum to secondary breast cancer and was later diagnosed with breast cancer myself. I has 2 bouts of cancer and 1 of pre-cancer, all within a year of each other. I had a Lumpectomy for the first time and a double mastectomy for the others. That was all 15 years ago now and I still lead a busy and fulfilling life.

It is difficult to say what is the best thing for you to do about her appointment. For her first visit to the breast clinic, your mum will speak to her consultant, be examined by him/her. She may also be sent for a mammogram, an ultrasound and possibly a biopsy. These are the 3 most common tests carried out. If she has a biopsy, she is likely to have to wait for another 1-2 weeks before she gets the results of this. The time that she will really need you with her, is when she returns to get the results.

I can understand why she wants you to go on the hen do and I suspect that you could go, as all of the tests that I mentioned are very straightforward.

Thank you for your lovely reply ️ 

I’m in Birmingham and didn’t go on the hen weekend it didn’t feel right. 
My mum let me feel and look at her breast the lump is vert hard and definitely has nodules on, her breast is swollen and warm also her nipple is being pulled. I’m very concerned and I’m glad I didn’t go. 

her appointment is tomorrow just hope it’s all ok x x

Hi Jolamine, 

I’m afraid it’s not good news it’s.breast cancer. The tumour is very large. Biopsy has been taken to find out what cancer it is and a scan to see if it’s spread. I’m shocked and devastated for my Mum but she has been so strong today. 

she’s asking if I’m ok! She has a battle but she will win
