No spring chicken - diagnosed with bladder cancer last year and breast cancer this year

Hi. My name is Liz. Last July I was diagnosed with bladder cancer. In February this year I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Following two TURBTs I’m now due week 5 of chemotherapy- 1 session a week for 6 weeks. I’m beginning to struggle with this. Has anyone else had problems?

The medication I’m taking for breast cancer, although it is shrinking the cancer is attacking my bones and makes me weary and in pain.

  • Hi Liz,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

It sounds as if you've had quite a trying time with both of your cancers and with chemo. Have you discussed your side-effects of chemo with your care team? I am glad to see that you are coming up to week 5 of 6 chemo sessions. It would be a shame to have to give up at this stage. Mention how you feel to your nurses and see if they can help you in any way.

I am sorry to hear that your medication for breast cancer is attacking your bones. There is medication available, to protect the bone in these circumstances. Have you been prescribed some of these? If not, please have a chat with your care team.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
