Meningioma

Hi everyone. We have a holiday home we are renovating in France. Whilst here I developed a severe episode of vertigo and numb face. Ended up in a hospital in Poitiers. Seen by a neurologist, had a CT and within in hour told I had an abnormal 30mm tumour in my cerebellum. To say it was a shock is an in statement. Admitted and 2 days later had an MRI diagnosed with an inoperable benign Meningioma that is compressing into my brain stem, auditory canal and acoustic nerve. Made the decision to have treatment in France. Having 30 sessions of radiotherapy, had my 8th session yesterday. Suffered these last few days with severe vertigo and nausea. Seen the doctor after my treatment on Thursday now prescribed steroids daily and anti emetics. Obviously concerned what my future holds. Trying to stay positive. Hoping these symptoms don’t last too long as I am unable to even move without falling over or wanted to be sick. Anyone else had a similar diagnosis or symptoms. Thank you xx

  • Hello HelenD2012

I'm so sorry to hear that you've recently been diagnosed with an inoperable meningioma. Undoubtedly, this would have been difficult news to receive, and coupled with the side effects of the treatment you're undergoing, it's natural that you're feeling concerned about what the future may hold.

I can't see that we currently have any active members who have been through similar circumstances. Hopefully someone who has experience will post to share their story with you but you might also want to have a look at the website for The Brain Tumour Charity

I hope that you're being well supported by the family and friends that you have locally in France as well as back in the UK. Keep in touch Helen and let us know how you get on with the rest of your treatment sessions.

    Best wishes,
