Start of my journey

  1. Hello to all - I have just been diagnosed with tonsil cancer which has spread to at least two neck nodes and now waiting for test results and planned treatment. It’s taking a while and in the meantime my mind is working overtime. Any thoughts/messages would be extremely useful. Many Thanks x
  • Hi Evelyn,

I don't have tonsil cancer, but noticed that you haven't had any replies yet, so I just wanted to send you a very warm welcome to our forum.

I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer and 1 of pre-cancer, all within a year of each other. That was all 15 years ago now, but I still remember so clearly, just how overwhelming getting those diagnoses were. Most of us would agree, that this is one of the worst stages in our cancer journey. The unknown is a horrible place to be and our over-active imaginations takes us to all sorts of dark places. Irrespective of the results, you will feel better when you know exactly what is happening.

Have you got an appointment for your test results yet? If not, I hope that it comes through soon. In the meantime, try to steer clear of consulting "Dr Google". Much of the information is poorly researched, out of date and all are aimed at the more spectacular cases. This won't give you any answers and will only serve to scare you further.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you so much for responding Jolamine - some great advice and understanding on this early stage of the journey. Will keep you updated xx
