Picketywitch - new to the forum and seeking advice on travel insurance

Hello there, I am new to the forum and I would like advice on Travel Insurance please.

My husband had a bladder cancer tumour removed and has completed his radio therapy treatment.  We hope to go to Corfu in September but I am not having much luck with finding travel insurance.  My travel insurance with my Nationwide account will not cover my husband as he has other medical conditions too.  I have had one quote of over £3000 and several just shy of £2000.  Can anyone please recommend a reliable reasonably priced Company or Companies that I can try.

Many thanks

  • Hi Flowglow,

It definitely pays to shop around AND the check the small print Earlier this year I almost paid £100 more for single trip ten day cover for identical insurance.

In the past, I’ve had offers with cheap premiums which covered everything except my cancer!

This year, I used https://medicaltravelcompared.co.uk to get several different quotes. I opted for the Coop’s as the premium was relatively low and the cover included scuba diving to 30m (as well as lots of other sports that many charge extra for.

    Good luck!

  • Ooops - just realised Farmed Ed had posted the same link ‍♀️

  • Hi Davek

It was you who recommemded  https://medicaltravelcompared.co.uk/

to me. Its a great comparison site. Saves entering details into multiple insurance sites and gives quotes from everyday insurers like Admiral, Post Office etc. I used it when insurancewith.com and allclear  would not insure me. And I did at least get two albeit high quotes. In the end I took your previous suggestion and feeling well enough took the risk to travel without insurance but with just GHIC card which I got in just 2 weeks after appling online. Hope you are keeping well.
