Bby - going from BCG and laser treatment for bladder cancer to surgery. Has this happened to anyone else?

Hi I am new to this forum . I have been having treatment for cancer of bladder for some 18 months having lots of bcg and laser treatment . Just been told it has not gone to plan and next step is bladder removal . Seems a big jump from bcg . Has anyone had same news and gone through operation ?

  • Hello Bby

I'm sorry to hear that after going through BCG and laser treatment for bladder cancer over the last 18 months you've been told that the treatment has not gone to plan and that you're now facing the possibility of surgery. It's understandable that you may be feeling overwhelmed by this news.

Do you have a specialist cancer nurse? If so, then do give them a call to talk things through. They will have access to all your information and be able to explain why the specialists are recommending surgery as the next step.

If you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses for some advice and support you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

I hope that you can get some clarity surrounding this recommendation and some reassurance from your team Bby. Keep in touch and let us know how you're coping.

    Best wishes,
