I’m back ..wife died from advanced colon cancer last year, and I've been diagnosed with prostate cancer

Wife died from colon cancer spread to her liver last year, so I’ve been here before. I knew something was up and it seemed like the right time to find out would be after she died. I was of course right and I was diagnosed with stage 2 prostate cancer a year ago. I’ve opted for active monitoring and I’m having a second MRI scan ro check for progression. PSA has gone up. No other symptoms.

  • Welcome back to the forum, Identity.

I am so sorry to hear about your wife, it must have been an incredibly hard time, and now to be facing your own diagnosis on top of this, I can only imagine how difficult it has been for you.

You have been through a lot already, and it is understandable that you are concerned, especially with the recent rise in your PSA and the upcoming MRI. It is good to hear that you are under active monitoring and being looked after, and I hope very much that the scan will bring reassuring results.

If you ever feel it would be helpful to talk things through with someone, our cancer nurses are available on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

We are all here for you on the forum, and I hope you will continue to post whenever you feel the need.

    All the best,
