Nervous wreck - waiting for smear test results

Hey guys,

not sure if I have posted in the right chat as I’m new here, I’ve really been suffering down below. Not long ago I found out I have bv due to loads of discharge sometimes pink other times not until I had some streaks of blood in some. I’d taken antibiotics for the bv and discharge has now gone back to normal. I had my smear done on Monday but previous to that I had blood test for sti std and swabs, the nurse said my cervix look healthy. But now I’ve constantly got back pain I feel bloated I’ve not had a period in 2 months, and I also feel like I’ve got a constant dull ache in pelvic area, I’m hpv positive also, I’m worried about cervical cancer for the reason I’ve said. It’s the longest wait of my life. I’ve had a colposcopy before and it came back negative. I’m really worried I suffer with mental health and anxiety along with health anxiety and I google a lot and it always comes up with the C word. Any advice or anything would be much appreciated may help put my mind at ease.

  • Hi Biank and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear about your symptoms and for the anxious wait you now have for your smear test results.

Waiting for news, especially when you have health anxiety, is very tough but our members are here for you Biank and hopefully some of them will be along soon to share their experiences and advice.

The NHS website Every Mind Matters and Anxiety UK have some really useful tips and advice on how to manage anxiety and look after your mental health, but if would help to have a quick chat with one of our nurses, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all they can to support you and put your mind at ease whilst you wait.

We're thinking of you Biank and hope your results bring good news when they come through.

    Kind regards,
