Awaiting Liver Biopsy results - its torture

My husband went in for a Heller Myotomy surgery but when they went in (laparoscopically) they found that half of his liver was covered with malignant looking mass.  They aborted the surgery.  The registrar came to see him afterwards and said unfortunatley it was cancer, they took a liver biopsy.

He was then told they were going to expedite the biopsy.  he was sent for a ct cap scan the next day

neither of these results have come back yet and that was two weeks ago (8th april) now 22nd April

This is torture!!!!  I hope that other people have not had the same experience with waiting for results but would love to chat to others and maybe they could share some coping tecniques

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, Sarah.

I’m sorry to hear about everything you and your husband have been through, it must have been such a shock to go in expecting surgery and come out with completely unexpected news. And now, to be left waiting for answers must feel incredibly difficult.

Unfortunately, many members here will understand exactly how you're feeling. Waiting for results is something we see talked about often, and it can really take its toll. I hope you’ll find some reassurance and helpful coping tips from others who’ve been through similar waits.

If at any point you feel like it might help to talk things through with someone, our nurses are here and happy to listen. You can reach them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Wishing you strength as you wait, and hoping you get some clear answers very soon.

    Best wishes,
