Feeling very weepy

I was diagnosed 1 yr ago with terminal small cell lung cancer, ive been through 4 sessions of chemotherapy and now been on immunotherapy for 7 months which has been a wonder drug.  The past 2 sessions have been different though ive been suffering from a lower mood (normally im positive) then 3 days ago I had a row with my son and ive cried everyday.

  • Hi Case

I am also on immunotherapy Cemiplimab but for metastatic skin cancer. I'm not usually given to be an overly emotional person but since starting the treatment I get anxiety, am really disturbed by World News, small family squabbles upset me and can feel quite mad (losing my reason) at times.

One of the possible side effects of immunotherapy is that your immune system can attack your thyroid gland, this can have a big effect on mood. Let your care team at the hospital know about this change in mood, if it is treatment related it is possible to alleviate the symptoms with thyroid medicine.

On the other hand dealing with cancer does make you feel low and overly sensitive to negative human reactions. I hope you (and me) are able to able to get on top this.
