Staging & grading - been diagnosed with stage 1 grade 1 breast cancer and having so much treatment. Is this normal?

Hello.

I'm stage 1 grade 1 breast cancer (invasive carcinoma), spreading slowly out of 1 node).

Have had mastectomy & full lymph nodes clearance, half way through 20 weeks chemo, then onto 3 weeks radiotherapy in summer then biophosohates for bones and Letrazole hormone therapy for 5 years.

I feel they are throwing an awful lot at me for so early a stage. Is it because it's easier to deal with earlier so a better prognosis? Is it because of my biochemical make up? Is it standard procedure nowadays?? I'm genuinely interested to find out.

I have a friend at stage 3 & she has lumpectomy & radio only. Why is this???

Treatment plans are so confusing - I'm not comparing myself to others (or trying not to) and I'm just getting on with things and doing ok generally. Just wondered if there were any other stage 1-er's out there getting the full shabang????
