Newby with skin issues - I'm 10 months in and 1 week post radiotherapy

Hi All, I’m 10 months in and just a week post radiotherapy, testicular cancer with surgical removal of one. Diagnosed with Hig grade B Cell Non Hodgkins I’m 74 and really struggling with swelling and soreness any recommendations please. First told to use flamigel and or moisturiser and today told to use nothing and “keep it dry” painful to even walk and I’m the carer for my wife.

  • Hello T8tyman

I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling with skin issues following your recent radiotherapy. It sounds like it's really impacting you, and I can understand that it's frustrating that you've been given conflicting advice.

We do have some information on our website about radiotherapy and skin, but I'd really encourage you to talk with the team responsible for your care and let them know how much you're struggling. Hopefully, they can help with something that will begin to ease things for you. If you're struggling over the weekend and are unable to contact the hospital team, then don't be afraid to call NHS 111 for advice and support.

If it would help to talk with one of our nurses, they are back in the office on Monday morning at 9am and are available on 0808 800 4040.

I do hope that things begin to settle for you soon.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
