- Hi , I've had my first round of chemotherapy two weeks ago. Aside from slight tummy upset I've had no side effects , is this normal, do the side effects affect everyone? Or do they kick in after a couple of rounds x
Hi Mollster and welcome to the Cancer Chat community.
I'm glad to hear you haven't experienced too many side effects from your chemo. Although everyone reacts differently to chemotherapy, I'm sure some of our members will stop by soon to share their experiences and advice.
You can find out more about chemotherapy and its side effects on our website, but if you have any further questions you're welcome to give our cancer nurses a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. Our nurses are very insightful and they will do all they can to support you and put your mind at ease about any other worries you have about your treatment.
I hope this helps and that your chemotherapy continues to go well.
All the best,

Hi Mollster,
I don't seem to have had too many side effects either. Phew.
Breast cancer. Have had 4 rounds of EC red devil juice & just felt a little more tired than usual. Had what I called "sick, sandy & sad Sundays" when I got steroid withdrawal, really dry sandpapery mouth with stringy bits (yuk), a teeny bit nauseous for a few hours & just felt a bit down - so just watched films all day & went for a walk. Next day it was usually gone.
Now on another type of chemo for 12 weeks and apart from sleeping pretty much straightaway after the infusion, I feel my energy has come back to a 9/10 & it's great, I feel great. A little constipated but diet & hydration help. I'm only 3 weeks into this so hoping it lasts.
Oh, forgot, I lost my hair with EC really quickly. Devastated for a couple of days but you just get on with it......I forgot about that, sorry
Hope you keep symptom free - the effects build up, but I think feeling tired now & then will be pretty normal, so listen to your body. Everyone is different.
Good luck with the next few rounds of chemo x
Thank you so much, so pleased to hear your side effects minimum. Very interesting point about the steroids, ill keep a track of that. I'm sorry you've lost your hair, buy a FABULOUS wig and own it lady. I bet you still look beautiful, had my 2nd round yesterday. 3 rounds chemotherapy & 1 round of immunotherapy intravenously, then tablet form throughout the journey. Good luck my love. Sending you healing and light and love.
Mollie xx
Thank for sharing
have just had my first round and was also concerned that I am not as sick as I should be apart from lethargy in the first couple of days
I thank you for the advise and will take note of the steroid issue
best of luck on your journeys
Glad it helped. We have this Matama x
