Breast cancer after screening , bilateral lumps

Hi everyone I had a routine screening (first one age 51) I had a recall 2 weeks later , mammograms and ultrasound found bilateral lumps so had biopsies. Today diagnosed with grade 1 in left breast and grade 2 in right. Waiting for results were the worst, high anxiety , panic attacks etc .Have to wait for HER-2 results as not back yet but no spread to lymphs. Waiting to be booked in for MRI as dense breast tissue making it hard to see size of tumour in right breast. Lumpectomy's to be done at end of the month with radiotherapy and hormone pills . Not looking forward to the return of menopause symptoms as having to come off HRT . Have been lurking and reading posts for the last few weeks to help me cope with anxiety which have helped immensely so thank you and Hello.

  • Hi Furball,

A very warm welcome to out forum.

More people are recalled after their first mammogram than any other. I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but you have come to the right place for advice and support. Waiting for results is one of the most stressful parts of our cancer journey. It is good to hear that there is no spread to your lymph nodes and that you have caught this fairly early. I hope that you get your MRI through soon and that it will clarify details about the tumour in your right breast.

I am glad to hear that your surgery is not too far away and hope that all goes well. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
