Scared to ask how bad it could be if my bladder cancer has spread. Get the results tomorrow afternoon

Hi all

was diagnosed with bladder cancer in late November 2024, have had 2no operations, was told before the 2nd operation they needed to make sure the cancer hasn’t / isn’t spreading, had to really press the consultant on how bad it was and finally told its grade 3 cancer

going for the results tomorrow afternoon, hoping for the best result but terrified it will be bad news

how do I ask how bad it is and get a truthful response

  • Hello RatbyRed

I just wanted to reply to your post to ask how you got on at your appointment yesterday. I hope that the Consultant was able to answer all your questions and give you some reassurance about the next steps in your treatment plan.

If it would help to talk anything through with one of our nurses, you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Jenn

    thanks for the response

Confirmed there’s no residual cancer and it’s non -invasive, which is the best news we hoped for, will be on a course of BCG for 12 months starting in the next few weeks once treatment plan is sorted

was introduced to a specialist cancer nurse who was very helpful and reassuring,

    kind regards

  • Hello RatbyRed

That's great news! And I'm glad to hear that you've been introduced to a specialist nurse as well. Don't be afraid to lean on them as you go through treatment - they are a great source of knowledge and support.

    Sending you my best wishes,
