Bile duct cancer and recovery from radiotherapy

Hi, I’m new here and don’t do socials so bare with me!

I was diagnosed with bile duct cancer Feb 24. Had 8 rounds of Chemo last year and all seemed good. On immunotherapy too. Completed 5 sessions of Radiotherapy in Jan 25 and have been struggling with the recovery. I’m lucky that treatment has been successful so far but know there is no cure. Is anyone else struggling with after effects of Radiotherapy?

  • Hello Mummamich

I'm sorry to hear that you've been going through treatment for bile duct cancer over the last year. It's great to hear that the treatment has been successful so far!

Radiotherapy side effects can continue to increase for a number of weeks after treatment stops. Add to that all that you have been through with the chemotherapy and immunotherapy, and it's understandable that you're still struggling with some of the side effects of radiotherapy. Do talk with your specialist cancer nurse for some advice about these issues. Hopefully, they will be able to give you some reassurance.

If you'd like to talk things through with one of our nurses, you're most welcome to give them a call. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Frida,y 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that over the coming weeks, the side effects begin to settle and improve. Keep in touch, Mummamich and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
