I had stage 3 triple negative breast cancer. 6 months chemo lumpectomy and radiotherapy. Finished treatment 12 months ago and thankfully so far am clear of cancer. I found everything moved so quickly once my treatment started and the staff were so lovely and supportive that my journey through was smooth. A few things I think would have helped me for my first chemo were to take a small cushion, some snacks and my kindle. I wore vest tops as I opted for a port and a cardigan so it was easy to access a and wore thickish socks with slip on trainers which were easy to get on and off. I tried the cold cap but couldn't tolerate it so after my first treatment had my hair cut short then when it started falling out used my husbands clippers. I had a wig which I never used.. amazon sell chemo hats which I wore a lot and found very comfy. Also drank CBD trip drinks which stopped any nausea (but check with your oncology team). I have had side effects with my thyroid and adrenal glands which are still ongoing but the oncology staff are really supportive. I think it's hard when everyone says stay positive and don't be scared. I think you just have to take one day at a time and work through it your own way but don't be afraid to ask questions or if you need any help. I also had (still do) good days where feel fine and others where feel so tired and don't want to do anything. One thing I have learned is to listen to my body. Hope you're treatment goes well x
