Hi
I'm so sorry to hear of your husband's diagnosis. Please don't despair, if it is localised that is fantastic news.
I've just been through two months of tests before being diagnosed with lung cancer in my left lower lobe. Mine was contained as well. I had surgery Monday, home Wednesday and recovering now. I will still be having treatment which I think is targeted treatment with tablets.
Please be reassured the medical teams are wonderful. The treatments have come on so much, even in the last year. Every treatment plan is individual and there really is so much help out there.
If I can reassure you in any way, please reach out.
Best wishes..

Hi
Thanks for replying
He can't have surgery because of where it is but they have said it will be targeted radiotherapy and maybe chemotherapy or immunotherapy or both.
The consultant did say the treatment plan will be individual to him.
Just feel anxious about what's ahead.
But do feel relieved the treatment has come on and the medical teams are fabulous
Good luck with your recovery
Hi
Thank you.
I was told that Immunotherapy is wonderful and it will be personalised to your husband's needs. I was told that even in the last year the advances are wonderful.
Try not to overthink it. I know that's easy to say. Now he is in the system things will happen quickly. Try to take it day by day and to do something small you both enjoy if you can.
Please let me know he gets on. Sending you positive vibes!
Best wishes.
Fi
Thank you so much for your postive reply it's just what I need right now
Take care
Will keep you posted
Dear Joho & Fi,
not easy things to face, but Fi it was great to hear your story, keep on keeping on! I hope your husband’s treatment is helpful too Joho.
My story is that I’ve found it hard to shake off chest infections the past couple of years. Getting a gp appointment was so hard I didn’t bother till a week ago.
I’ve since been referred to a ‘suspected lung cancer’ pathway, without being told about the referral, so unable to ask any questions, & I’m very anxiously awaiting my CT results.
I’m 64 & finally life has been going well, so it’s disappointing to face this right now. But I read of young mums having to deal with the same, so am grateful I was able to bring up my family already.
All encouragement gratefully received!
Louise
Hi Louise
That was what happened to me. I was unwell with a nasty virus and cough during November and December. I was put on the 2 week pathway after 2 xrays showed a mass.
I had of course diagnosed myself with chronic bronchitis as I was feeling well during January and February while I was having all the tests. When the Oncologist told me it was a shadow on the lung and I saw the scan I just cried. I didn't understand how I had no symptoms!
I went mad, googling lung cancer and felt very anxious. Waiting for confirmation from The PET scan and biopsy was so stressful.
My advice is to take each day as it comes. Try not to keep looking things up, you will get confused and anxious. Once you have your diagnosis you can make your plan. You may be fine and if you're not then put your faith in the medical team.
There really are so many excellent treatments out there now. I'm a similar age to you so I really do understand.
Hope this helps. Be strong and positive. You can do this!
Keep in touch.
Best wishes

Hi Louise
I agree with Fi your results may not show cancer.
My husband had pneumonia in December they saw a nodule on his CT scan and when he had the follow up scan and it was still there. Pet scan and biopsies were done and that's how he got his diagnosis.
He has had a cough but otherwise no other symptoms and he has never smoked.
We are keen to get a plan now so we can go forward.
Take care
Let me know how you get on with your results
Hi JoHo and Louise
I think the waiting period for diagnosis and uncertainty for the future is just so stressful. While I was waiting I did things I enjoyed. Meeting up with my children and friends but also avoiding crowded places so I didn't catch any coughs or colds!
I also tried to be practical and organised at home.
I made up my mind that once I had the diagnosis and plan I could deal with it. My plan did change totally as I had a rare mutation which meant the planned treatment wouldn't work and the tumour had to be removed first. There was a six week waiting list but because it was located near my windpipe I was operated on as an emergency a few days later. I consider myself very lucky. I still have treatment to come. Probably targeted therapy tablets and maybe chemo. I know I can deal with what's to come.
I really think try to relax until the diagnosis. It may be good news, or may just need monitoring.
You will deal witj it, you've got this!

I’m really grateful for this conversation, thank you both, & will await your news too.
Since we started ‘speaking’ I’ve felt calmer, & have taken on board your advice.
I’m working on the things I can do, cutting out risk factors like alcohol, & being grateful for every moment.
Should have results from the ct in a couple of days, then as I gather from you both, there will be more tests if there are areas of concern.
I’ve lost 2 younger brothers & my mother to cancer in recent years so some insight & maybe heightened fears.
Have a great Sunday both. It’s crispy & frosty in Devon with a sunny start xx
