Repeat Cancers

I am an outgoing 72 year old woman who has lived A LOT of life, traveled extensively, lived in different countries and worked in a wide variety of different industries BUT my life for over 40 years has been dogged by cancer

I first had cervical cancer at age 32 for which I had a radical hysterectomy. Then in 1996 I had cancer in my right breast. A lumpectomy and radiation plus taking Tamoxifen did not prevent another tumour in the same breast in 2000. Again a lumpectomy and a great deal of complementary therapy kept the breast cancer free until 2020 when I had a radical mastectomy to rid my body of three separate breast cancers and lobular cancer all in my right breast

Now I am facing one, and possibly two tumours in my left breast. I am getting really tired and fed up fighting this insidious disease but it’s time to get ready and go for more diagnostic tests at the hospital and to discuss a plan with my surgeon

Do I feel better for getting my story “off my chest” (excuse the pun) ? Yes, I guess I do

  • Hello Annie, and welcome to the forum that no-one ever wants to join.  I can not imagine what it must feel like to have been fighting this monster for 40 years.........I have had it for 6 years and it seems like a lifetime!  Good for you that you have done a lot of living..........it is nice to know that sometimes, the big C is thwarted in its attempts to destroy a person.  I wish you the very best of luck, and please keep us informed, take care, x

  • Hi

Excellent news today. The second area of concern in my one remaining breast is benign!!!  Now to have a lumpectomy on Tuesday next and then plan a wonderful summer. Feeling blessed after months of anxiety

For all my fellow sufferers peace be with you and I really hope you find a little joy soon

    Best Wishes

    Annie

  • Oh Annie.......that is WONDERFUL news.........I am so happy for you.  In fact, it has brought a tear to my eye...........I wish you a lovely summer, and MANY MORE lovely summers...........I said a prayer for you, but I honestly didn't expect such quick results LoL!  Take care Annie, and if you go to any summer parties, have a Jack Daniels and coke for me!  xx
