Recent lobectomy for endocrine carcinoid tumour in lung

Hello

Im Jacky, 70 years old female. I had a lobectomy by robotic assisted surgery on the 6th Jan. 2025 to remove an neoendocrine carcinoid tumour. (NET)I had the full top right hand side lobe removed and some lymph nodes removed.

Fortunately it is a very slow growing and very rarely spreads. I was told i will not need chemo or radiotherapy and obviously delighted with that result.

However, as this is a rare tumour not a lot is known about them. I would be interested if anyone else has had the same.

I still have a slight tight feeling where my wounds are and a cough which somwtimes produces a little phlegm light green.

Ive had an x ray and all seems well but was wondering if anyone else was troubked with the cough. It doesnt hurt it just seems as if i ferl like clearing my throat.

Looking forward to any replies.

  • Hi Jacky,

I had a left Upper Lobectomy in November 2024 and I still have the dry throaty cough. I have, however, pretty much stopped coughing up phlegm. My overall lung function is slowly improving with exercise and this is my focus. I use a peak flow meter to monitor my lung function. FYI - I had an NSCLC Adenocarcinoma, but I believe the cough is from the surgery and general recovery, not the original cancer. I also find that the cold damp weather we've had in tge UK makes it worse at the moment.

Hope this helps and happy to discuss further.

    Dave
