Hi. I'm no expert but...I am guessing you did a FIT test or similar? And they found blood in your stool? If that is the case, then that can be caused by loads of things, but one possibility is cancer, so they have to find out if that could be the cause. Or if it is anything else like diverticulitis that might need treatment.
If it is a FIT test, I believe something like 1 in 10 of positive FIT tests turn out to be cancer.
Most likely, they will do a colonoscopy that will tell them what has caused the positive result - a polyp, cancer, diverticulitis, a hemorrhoid, a fissure, IBD, an infection...
Hi, assuming you had a positive qFIT test and further investigation is needed. This normally [ my experience] means referral to Colorectal dept and rectal examination. If necessary the next step in a Colonoscopy where photos and biopsies may be taken to determine the cause of the problem. There are very many reasons for having this procedure and even more diagnosis following it. One step at a time, not overthinking is my advice, best wishes to you
Thanks very much for your advice ….bit of a shock but I’m sure everyone says that too.
Thanks Margaret much appreciated.
Cliché but you are not alone [ unfortunately]
