black spots in poo

I have prostate cancer . 3 weeks in of radiotherapy, any body experiencing black spots in poo

  • Hello bigbadbazzajunior,

I hope that your radiotherapy treatment for prostate cancer is going ok and that you are not experiencing any significant side effects. I am not sure what would cause these black spots in your poo but it's worth flagging it with your medical team so make sure you bring it up so that they are aware you are experiencing this.

I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who also have prostate cancer and are going through radiotherapy treatment and may have noticed similar black spots. Whatever this is, I think it is important to find out the cause and I hope that this will improve quickly.

Do give your GP or specialist a call as soon as you can and mention this has been happening to you and I hope you get some answers on this very soon.

    Best wishes,

  •  Hello bigbadbazzajunior,

have you told your doctors of this, because they need to know immediatly..Its highly likely that these black spots through your poo is stale blood from bleeding in your bowel,Stale blood presents as black unlike red fresh blood, making your stools look like spotted dick. It was exactly this that alerted me to my Bowel cancer diagnosis.

In your case it might be being caused by the radiotherapy so you need to make them aware at your next treatment

  • Thank you David,

I went to my GP today , they are testing my stool for for bowel cancer, get my results approx 5 days.

  •  Hello again,

well done, hopefully it will be from your treatment or a polyp,

    David
