Lynda - diagnosed with myeloma last year and finding medication really difficult. I don't know what way to turn.

Hi I was diagnosed with myeloma last May and have found it very hard to accept.   I’m on Lenalidomide which gives me insomnia and skin rashes.
my consultant has mentioned an alternative, Melphalan which I’m reading has worse side effects.   I feel I have no quality of life and don’t know which was to turn.   Any advice would be appreciated.

  • I'm sorry to hear you were diagnosed with myeloma last year Lynda and that you've been having a lot of difficulty with your medication.

Hopefully some of our members who have been prescribed Melphalan will share their experiences and advice with you soon but if it would help to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses, they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m. They will do all they can to answer your questions and hopefully put your mind at ease about the possible side effects that can occur with this cancer drug.

I can understand your reluctance to changing to Melphalan Lynda, but maybe you could try it for a bit and see how you get on? You never know, you may find you experience little to no side effects with Melphalan, but you won't know unless you give it a go.

Whatever you decide, we're here for you Lynda and sending all our support your way.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator
