Hello, new here.... Anxious with waiting

Hi,

Not sure where to start, but feel the need to offload somewhere with people who really understand.

Just been for a recall diagnostic mammogram. Apparently there is a cluster of microcalcifications they want to check out. Not sure I totally understand what they are or if them turning up in one year is a bad sign.

This was my first yearly check up since having breast cancer opp and radiotherapy last year. So they have other images to compare them to.

I've got a consultant appointment in a couple of weeks but haven't really been told much else, so not sure what to expect. Does anyone know if that will just be the results or further testing or what really?

When I'm busy it's ok, but I'm really struggling to sleep since the call, so I'm obviously more worried than I'm trying to be!

Have only told hubby and one good friend as don't want to worry others uneccessarily.

For some reason this feels almost worst than last time as I feel totally in the dark.

Sorry for the long waffle. Thanks for reading

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, Clara-hen.
I’m sorry to hear that you're feeling anxious, but I’m glad you’ve found a place where you can share your thoughts.
It sounds like you've been through a lot with your treatment last year, and now having to wait for more information can understandably feel unsettling. It’s normal to feel unsure, especially when you’re unsure of what to expect next.
The waiting can be tough, and it makes sense that you're feeling more anxious when you’re not keeping busy. You're certainly not alone in feeling this way; many others here can relate to what you’re going through, and I hope some of them will join the conversation shortly. Speaking with those who understand can often provide comfort.
I hope your upcoming appointment brings you the clarity you're seeking.
    With best wishes,
    Renata, Cancer Chat Moderator
  • Thank you Renata,

It's the unknown and not knowing what to expect. I'm living in a different area now so under a different hospital than last year, they appear to do things differently. Guess I'll know soon enough. Besr wishes
